Glenn - Bass, keyboards, vocals
Glenn is from a family of seven children, all with some degree of musical
training. Glenn had a few years of piano lessons as a child but then
lost interest. At the age of 10 he sat down at the piano and realized he
had forgotten all that he had learned. So, he re-taught himself as best
he could.
Then, in the eighth grade he signed up for the junior high school orchestra
where he played bass violin. He continued on this instrument
through his years at Killian Senior High School and was selected to the
All-County Band in 1977 and the All-State Orchestra in 1977 and 1978.
In high school, Glenn also played bass and electric bass in the jazz band
and tuba in the concert and marching band. Between practicing for
these groups, Glenn also assisted his older brothers with rehearsals and gigs
when they formed their own band, BEGINNINGS (named after a hit song by the
jazz/rock band CHICAGO). During these years, Glenn played and
listened to all types of music from classical music to 50's and 60's rock,
from Album Oriented Rock to standards by Sinatra.
Then after high school Glenn let his music lapse as he attended college and
began working at "REAL" jobs.
In 1989, Glenn joined the Miami Beach Police Department. In 1994, a
new officer told Glenn that he was looking for a bass player for his rock
band. Glenn decided to take a chance. He joined that band, LAWTON
, which had originally been formed in 1986 by Mike Alvarez. Glenn
was ecstatic to be performing music again. He now realized how much he
had missed playing music in a group setting. But, after a couple of years of
performing at small clubs and parties, LAWTON members began to have their
differences and splintered, finally leaving Mike and Glenn to be joined by a
variety of singers and drummers.
A sense of permanence was realized when two of Mike's friends, Jay and
Sam, joined and the group's name was changed to REWIND to acknowledge
their common interest in Classic Rock. Finally, Sam recruited his best
friend John, as permanent drummer for the group.
And so begins the epic saga of REWIND...
